‘How precious concerning me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand…’ (Psalm 139 vs 17-18)
These words from the Psalms speak of the preciousness of the individual, and that includes you. You are precious to God. You didn’t choose to exist – He created you in love. There is no-one quite like you. You can reflect the beauty of God in a way no-one else can! God’s thoughts are constantly turned towards you!
Our lives are meant to be a journey into God then outward into positive, meaningful living. Sometimes we can be a bit bruised, bewildered, even battered yet as the bible puts it – ‘eternity is in our hearts.’ There is a desire in each of us to know God – not just to know about Him, but to know Him – to have a personal relationship with Him.
Coming to God is like coming home – being wrapped up in our Heavenly Father’s love – receiving forgiveness and healing – learning to love Him back; love others; and yes – to love ourselves. In God alone we find true security, and also true significance. Someone once said the two most important days in our lives are – the day we were born, and the day we discover why we were born. God gives meaning and purpose to us – a goal in life that draws from us abilities we didn’t know we had.
God is the Great Lover of Your Soul and invites you to a deeper relationship with Him – for you indeed are precious to Him.
